VoiceThread allows uers to create collaborative, multimedia slide shows that hold images, documents, and videos. Teachers can share VoiceThreads with students, colleagues, or others so they can leave comments. Viewers may leave comments in five ways -- using voice (with a mic or phone), text, audio file, or video (with a webcam). VoiceThreads can be embedded on other websites and exported to MP3 players or DVDs to play as archived video.

  1. Create your own VoiceThread account - it's free and easy to do. Go to VoiceThread, click "My Voice" and in the window that opens click "Register"
  2. Leave at least one voice comment and one written comment on this VoiceThread: Compelling Photos from 2009
    you may want to watch it once, then go back and leave comments
  3. Create your own VoiceThread using at least three pictures related to something you are teaching or want to introduce to your students. Use the step-by-step instruction handout and the one-minute tutorial above for help. NOTE: you do not have to do the "Share" part, just create it.
  4. Embed your VoiceThread on your Summarizing & Note Taking page. Then write a few sentences about what you think of this tool and how it might be used for summarizing or note taking.
